Baramulla, December 22,2025:Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Minga Sherpa on Saturday formally kick-started the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) campaign by administering polio drops to a child at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Baramulla.
The district-wide IPPI campaign aims to achieve 100 per cent immunisation coverage of 1,63,587 children in the 0–5 years age group, out of a total district population of 11,33,790, thereby strengthening Baramulla’s contribution towards maintaining India’s polio-free status.
To ensure the smooth and effective conduct of the campaign, the Health Department has arranged 2,07,755 Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) doses and 10,388 OPV vials. Additionally, 849 Pulse Polio booths have been established across the district to provide easy and accessible vaccination services to beneficiaries.
A robust workforce has been deployed for the campaign, comprising 1,775 health workers, 1,293 ASHA workers, 2,232 Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), and 170 supervisors, who will ensure effective outreach, supervision, and real-time monitoring.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure that no child is left out. He appealed to parents and guardians to actively cooperate with health teams and ensure that every eligible child receives polio drops during the campaign.
The DC reiterated the administration’s firm commitment to safeguarding child health and sustaining Baramulla district’s role in achieving and maintaining a polio-free India.
