Srinagar, 16 August, 2025: From waves to wonders, the shimmering waters of Dal Lake are set to come alive as Jammu & Kashmir hosts Khelo India Water Sports 2025. The grand sporting spectacle will transform Srinagar into the epicenter of aquatic adventure, drawing participants and spectators from across India.
The event, themed “Dal Chu Pyaraan” (Dal, My Beloved), celebrates not only the spirit of sports but also the cultural and natural heritage of Kashmir’s iconic Dal Lake. Activities will include canoeing, kayaking, rowing, and other water sports competitions, showcasing the state’s growing potential in adventure and tourism-based sports.
Officials from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council confirmed that world-class facilities are being set up to ensure smooth conduct of the games. With hundreds of young athletes expected to participate, the event is poised to become a stepping stone for promoting water sports in Jammu and Kashmir at both national and international levels.
Tourism stakeholders have also expressed optimism, highlighting that Khelo India Water Sports 2025 will boost eco-tourism, youth engagement, and sports infrastructure development in the Valley. Local shikara owners and houseboat communities are gearing up to welcome visitors, blending the magic of Kashmir’s hospitality with the thrill of competition.
Speaking on the occasion, an official said, “Dal Lake is the jewel of Srinagar, and hosting Khelo India Water Sports 2025 here will inspire our youth while showcasing Kashmir as a hub for adventure sports.”
