Construction of bridge in Anantnag brings comfort and relief from flood waters

Construction of 1 x 30 Mtr span bridge at Pathan over Nallah Gadole has been completed by the Public Works Department, Jammu & Kashmir. The residents of Pathan village are happy with the construction of the bridge. Mohammad Yousuf, a local resident of Anantnag said, in the absence of a bridge they used to carry ration on their shoulders. They faced a lot of difficulties during sickness; they had to carry patients on their shoulders too. Now with the constructed bridge they can go to Kokernag easily carrying their goods in vehicles. Another local resident, Mohammad Umar says, the bridge has brought us a lot of happiness as this road links Doda city. When water used to collect here as it rains a lot here, no vehicle stopped here adding to our woes. The rough bridges used to get dysfunctional because of the heavy rains and water accumulation. Another resident said how the floods posed a lot of problems for the children and women living in the area. But now with the laying of macadam and road and bridge, the residents are benefitting. So much water used to get collected earlier that we had to tie ropes to pull along to the other side of the road, recounted another resident. Now the bridge has given us a lot of comfort.
