Kashmir Ahead

Compassionate rehabilitation key to drug-free J&K: LG Manoj Sinha

Kathua, April 13,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said the next three months will not merely be a campaign phase but a decisive period to “sow the seeds of lasting change” in Jammu and Kashmir under the Drug-Free J&K initiative.

Addressing a large public rally in Kathua, the LG formally launched a people’s movement against narcotics, calling for collective responsibility and sustained community participation to eradicate the menace of drug abuse.

Emphasising a humane approach, Manoj Sinha said compassionate rehabilitation will remain the cornerstone of the campaign. “We must change our mindset—those battling addiction are patients who need care, support, and treatment,” he asserted.

The Lieutenant Governor stressed that tackling drug abuse requires not only enforcement but also awareness, counselling, and reintegration efforts. He urged civil society, youth groups, families, and institutions to actively contribute to the mission.

Calling upon the youth to channel their energy towards nation-building, he said the administration is committed to ensuring a future where the potential of young people “illuminates the world rather than being lost to substance abuse.”

Reaffirming the government’s resolve, Manoj Sinha urged all stakeholders to confront the challenge with determination and unity, adding that a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir can only be achieved through sustained efforts and unwavering commitment.
