Srinagar, November 1,2025: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the long-awaited Noor Jahan Bridge at Qamarwari, a major infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in Srinagar city.
The newly constructed bridge, built over the Jhelum River, will serve as a vital link between Qamarwari, Noorbagh, and adjoining areas, significantly reducing travel time and decongesting the busy Parimpora–Qamarwari–Batamaloo corridor.
Speaking at the inauguration, Omar Abdullah said the Noor Jahan Bridge symbolizes the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and public convenience in Jammu and Kashmir. “The bridge will not only improve urban mobility but also stimulate local economic activity and benefit thousands of daily commuters,” he said.
The Chief Minister praised the efforts of the Public Works (R&B) Department and project engineers for completing the bridge despite challenges related to terrain and weather. He also emphasised the government’s focus on strengthening infrastructure, road networks, and sustainable urban development across the Union Territory.
Omar Abdullah highlighted that infrastructure development is key to economic growth and employment generation. “Projects like Noor Jahan Bridge represent progress, connectivity, and the people’s aspirations for a modern Srinagar,” he added.
Local residents and traders welcomed the opening of the bridge, calling it a major relief for commuters and transporters who had long faced traffic snarls in the area.
