Kashmir,January 2,2026- The Central Government has released Rs 944 crore for reconstruction and restoration works in flood-affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir, providing a major boost to ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts in the Union Territory.
The funds have been sanctioned to support the rebuilding of damaged infrastructure, including roads, bridges, public buildings and essential services, which were severely affected during floods. Officials said the financial assistance will help accelerate reconstruction projects and strengthen disaster-resilient infrastructure in vulnerable regions.
The release of funds is aimed at ensuring timely completion of pending works and improving connectivity and public amenities in flood-hit districts. Authorities noted that the assistance will also help restore livelihoods and improve living conditions for affected communities.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has welcomed the move, terming it a significant step towards long-term recovery and sustainable development. The focus, officials said, will remain on transparent utilisation of funds and prioritising projects that directly benefit the public.
