Celebrating Independence Day: A Tribute to our Heroes and reflections by J&K LG Manoj Sinha

On the auspicious occasion of the 78th Independence Day, we come together as a nation to celebrate the spirit of freedom, unity, and resilience that defines our great country. As we hoist the tricolour high, we honour the countless sacrifices made by our valiant freedom fighters and martyrs, who bravely fought to gift us the liberty we hold dear today. Reflecting on this solemn day, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, remarked, “Our history is etched with the blood and toil of those who, against overwhelming odds, stood firm in their resolve to break the chains of colonial rule. Their sacrifices are the bedrock of the vibrant democracy we are privileged to be part of today. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the long and arduous journey our forefathers embarked upon to secure our independence. These heroes, driven by an indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment, envisioned a free and sovereign nation. Through their sheer dedication and courage, they transformed this vision into our cherished reality. As we celebrate this significant day, it is essential to reflect on the values and principles that our freedom fighters cherished—values of justice, equality, and patriotism. Their sacrifices were not in vain, and it is our duty to ensure that their legacy continues to inspire and guide us in our journey as a nation.
