Fayaz Ahamed, a local resident of Budgam says, there was no playground there. But within five-six months, the fields were upgraded. The intention was to give the youth of J&K a platform to keep themselves mentally and physically fit to contribute to the progress of Kashmir. Fayaz is thankful to the administration under the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for providing sports facilities to the youth so that the youth is not wasting away under the control of drugs. Saqib Manzoor, a cricket player says that earlier there was no ground to play and children from nearby villages had to go far to play. Now, the playground in Budgam has made it convenient and they are quite satisfied with the working of the administration. The playground has been constructed under the scheme MGNREGA – Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Suhail Ahmad, another cricket player says, practicing was difficult as there was no playground in the 4-5 villages nearby. So this is a big initiative in Budgam district, keeping the youth in mind.
