A local, Hilal Ahmad Sheikh of Budgam district in Jammu & Kashmir is pleased that their demand for a bridge was finally heeded by the government. The construction of 1×45 M Span Steel Girder Motorable Bridge at R D-506 on Sholipora to Udroo Road has brought a lot of smiles. Mubashir Ahmad, AEE, PMGSY says, the bridge plays a vital role in connecting habitations here. There was no such connectivity.
Saeed Saim, Assistant Engineer, PMGSY has been supervising the bridge since 2018. He says, the bridge connects Sholipora village to Udroo village on the other side. It is a single span steel tress girder bridge. Currently, the super structure work is going on and we are fixing the slab reinforcement work. According to AEE, Mubashir, the sanctioned cost of this bridge is Rs. 450.50 lakh. And the bridge will be constructed within the sanctioned cost.
Another local, Abdul Rashid Dar says, we will benefit a lot with the bridge being constructed. There is a stream running here which used to get flooded during rains. We used to face a lot of difficulties in crossing the stream. It used to take us 3-4 hours to go across. Now, the bridge will make our commute easy. Another villager, Gurza Ahmad Sheikh is grateful to the administration for putting up the bridge. He says, the children living in this area can get educated and our villages will also prosper. The motorable bridge will sort out their connectivity and commuting issues, said the AEE, PMGSY Mubashir Ahmad.
