Jammu, March 27,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for approving an additional central assistance of ₹5,000 crore to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, the Lieutenant Governor said the financial support will significantly strengthen the fiscal health of Jammu and Kashmir while accelerating its overall development. He highlighted that the Centre’s continued backing reflects its firm commitment to the growth and prosperity of the Union Territory.
“This vital support will alleviate budgetary constraints, guarantee on-schedule project delivery, and drive J&K’s robust economic growth by bolstering infrastructure and creating lasting opportunities for sustained prosperity,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
LG Manoj Sinha further noted that the additional funds will help bridge fiscal gaps, enhance public expenditure efficiency, and ensure the seamless implementation of key infrastructure and welfare projects across the region. He added that the assistance will also support governance reforms and improve investor confidence in J&K.
He emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a transformative phase of development, with focused investments in infrastructure, connectivity, and public services.
Officials believe the ₹5,000 crore package will play a crucial role in maintaining fiscal discipline while ensuring uninterrupted progress of developmental initiatives. The funds are expected to be strategically utilized across priority sectors, reinforcing economic resilience and paving the way for long-term sustainable growth in the Union Territory.
