Baramulla, December 20, 2025: District Magistrate (DM) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, chaired the 23rd meeting of the District-Level Narco Coordination Committee (NCORD) today, focusing on reviewing and strengthening ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the district.During the meeting, the DM emphasized the critical need for widespread awareness campaigns to educate the public, especially youth, about the dangers of drug abuse. He directed strict enforcement of laws under the NDPS Act, calling for intensified actions against drug peddlers and suppliers.Key directives included enhanced surveillance at identified hotspots, regular monitoring, and multi-agency coordinated operations involving police, excise, education, health, and social welfare departments. The DM stressed collective and coordinated action to eradicate the drug menace, urging greater community involvement and rehabilitation support for affected individuals.
The meeting aligns with the national Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) initiative, aimed at making India drug-free through prevention, enforcement, and de-addiction measures.Officials from various departments attended the session, sharing updates on seizures, arrests, awareness programs, and rehabilitation efforts.This comes as part of continued quarterly reviews, following previous NCORD meetings that have progressively ramped up anti-narcotics strategies in Baramulla.
