Srinagar, September 09: The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir announced that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Awantipora will become fully operational by the end of 2026. Addressing concerns over delays and rising project costs, the CM attributed the issues to poor site selection during the initial planning phase.
The Chief Minister assured that despite the challenges, the government is committed to expediting the project to ensure world-class healthcare facilities for the people of the Union Territory. He added that once operational, AIIMS Awantipora will significantly strengthen the region’s healthcare infrastructure, provide advanced medical services, and generate employment opportunities.
The CM further directed the concerned agencies to adhere to revised deadlines and ensure quality standards in construction and allied facilities. He emphasized that the government will closely monitor progress to avoid further delays or cost escalations.
The establishment of AIIMS in Kashmir is expected to reduce patient load on other hospitals and improve access to specialised healthcare services, aligning with the vision of affordable and accessible healthcare for all.
