Doda, December 7,2025- In a major boost to rural infrastructure in the Doda district, long-awaited road connectivity is finally becoming a reality for residents of the remote Dudwa Harkhand village. Construction work on the 5-kilometre Bagla–Dudwa Harkhand road, being executed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-IV, is currently in full swing, bringing hope and relief to more than 7,000 residents who have struggled for decades without motorable access.
The project, long demanded by locals, is expected to significantly improve mobility, access to health services, education, and economic opportunities for several habitations in the region. Locals say the new road will transform daily life, reducing travel time and improving transport of essentials, agricultural produce, and emergency support.
Officials involved in the project highlighted that work is being carried out on priority despite the difficult terrain characteristic of the hill district. Once completed, the road will integrate Dudwa Harkhand with the broader rural road network of Doda, aligning with the government’s goal of enhancing last-mile connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir.
Residents have expressed optimism that the PMGSY Phase-IV initiative will end years of isolation and accelerate socio-economic development in the area.
The completion of the Bagla–Dudwa Harkhand road is expected to mark a major milestone in rural connectivity, bringing long-overdue infrastructural progress to one of Doda’s most remote pockets.
