Bandipora’s Mumtaza Begum is in news. She is being discussed nowadays as the pioneer on the path of Karmas. Sheep farming has traditionally been considered a male occupation. But challenging the conventions, Mumtaza Begum boldly ventured into this field, said the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha in the programme, ‘Awaam ki Awaaz’. And today she is being honoured in the whole district. She has also provided employment to male workers on her sheep farm. I understand that her success has given new opportunities for new dreams to flourish in that area, LG said. Mumtaza Begum said she was very happy that the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha had taken her name in the Awaam ki Aawaz programme. My unit has become a success in district Bandipora. I also want to tell the educated youth that they should also do something like this, start their business. They can do something and give employment to others too, said Mumtaza Begum. I being a woman can do this work then why can’t the youth, asks Mumtaza Begum.
