Spectrum is our annual youth fest, said Mrigakshi Mehta, student of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) participating in the event in Srinagar. Under the two-day Spectrum event we hold cultural, literary and sports events. All the colleges of Srinagar are invited for this event to encourage interaction among students. This year our theme resonates with the theme of G20. One Life-One Earth-One Family. We have tried to involve different ethnicities so they feel included. We have tried to present an inclusive environment for the fest, NIFT student Mrigakshi said. Students from various schools and institutions were grateful to NIFT for the opportunity given to them to showcase their talent. The idea of G20 is economic development, in the same way NIFT is focussing on talent development for growth. The students were happy to get the chance to interact with the DC Budgam Akshay Labroo and other important guests. DC Budgam said to students that while you are enjoying your time this is also the time to build your personality and your career. Utilise the time to become great assets for Jammu & Kashmir and for the states that you come from. Make India proud in the arena of fashion industry, technology and artistry, DC Budgam said. Students of different colleges reacting to the event said that it helps them to release stress. It is also a fun experience with the cultural programmes and different food stalls. Another thought that was running was that the Spectrum event helps them to bond. The events have been organised so that students can grow their talent whether in singing, dance, theatre, sports or literary events. The students also put up stalls to sell their creative handmade items. G20 events will give a good boost to tourism, say students. People will come from different parts of the world and they will talk about their experiences to others which can be a plus point for Kashmir.
