Srinagar, November 1, 2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated 1,416 transit accommodation flats at Zewan, Kakan Maran and Kulangam Bagh for employees appointed under the Prime Minister’s Employment Package (PM Package).
The inauguration marks an important step towards providing safe, secure and comfortable residential facilities to Kashmiri Pandit employees and their families serving in the Kashmir Valley.
The project reflects the commitment to ensuring dignity, security and improved living conditions for PM Package employees. The newly inaugurated flats are expected to provide residential support to employees who relocated to Kashmir under the employment package and help them establish greater stability for themselves and their families.
The accommodation facilities represent more than just housing infrastructure. They symbolise hope, dignity and the possibility of a brighter future for Kashmiri Pandit families. Access to safe and suitable housing is an important part of creating a supportive environment for employees to carry out their professional responsibilities while ensuring the well-being of their families.
The Prime Minister’s Employment Package was introduced to facilitate employment opportunities for Kashmiri Pandit youth and support their rehabilitation in the Valley. Over the years, residential infrastructure has remained an important component of efforts to address the needs of employees appointed under the package.
The inauguration of 1,416 flats across the three locations highlights the importance of strengthening basic infrastructure and providing essential facilities to government employees. It also reflects the broader focus on inclusive development and improving the quality of life of different communities in Jammu and Kashmir.
For the employees and their families, these residential facilities offer an opportunity to live with greater security and stability while contributing to the region’s administrative and professional landscape.
The initiative is another step towards building a peaceful, inclusive and developed Jammu and Kashmir, where people have access to essential facilities and opportunities to live and work with dignity.
