Seerat Rafiq, a resident of Bijbehara in Anantnag district, has authored a book titled Firaq, weaving her emotions, personal experiences and feelings about her parents into poetry. The book features a collection of selected ghazals and nazms that reflect the joys, sorrows and experiences that have shaped her life. Seerat said she began writing in 2019 and used her pen to express emotions that were often difficult to communicate in words. A central theme of Firaq is the emotional impact of her parents’ separation. Through her poetry, she also draws inspiration from everyday experiences, including changing weather, rain and ordinary moments of life. She believes that putting her feelings on paper helped her cope with personal difficulties and find emotional relief. Seerat recalled that she approached her family about publishing the book in September, receiving encouragement and support from her mother, aunt, sister and other family members. Her mother expressed pride in her daughter’s achievement, highlighting the importance of family support in helping her pursue her literary aspirations. Seerat’s journey reflects how literature can become a medium for emotional expression, self-discovery and healing. Through Firaq, the young writer has transformed her personal experiences into poetry, offering readers a glimpse into the emotions and memories that have shaped her life.
