Kashmir Ahead

Khelo India stars sweep medals at Asmita League, district Soft Tennis Championship

Jammu, August 23,2026- Players of the Khelo India Soft Tennis Centre at MA Stadium Jammu delivered a commanding performance, completely dominating the Khelo India Asmita Jammu City League 2026-27 and the Jammu District Soft Tennis Championship 2026-27, clinching medals across every category on offer.

The two tournaments, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Soft Tennis Association from August 20 to 22 at the Tennis Court, MA Stadium Jammu, saw the centre’s players sweep the podium in nearly every age group and gender category, underlining the depth of talent nurtured at the facility over recent years.

The Khelo India Soft Tennis Centre has built a reputation as one of the region’s leading talent incubators, having produced numerous national medallists and international players, including Sidhani Singh, Soham Bhat, Madhvendra Singh, Shreemai Bhat and Harikesh Dutt Sharma — athletes who have gone on to bring recognition to Jammu and Kashmir on the national and international stage. The centre’s latest showing at the Asmita League and District Championship reaffirmed this legacy, achieved under the mentorship and coaching of international player Indu Bhushan, who serves as Mentor and Coach at the centre.

In the final results of the Asmita League, the Senior Girls category saw Sidhani Singh claim Gold, with Simran Sharma taking Silver and Sneha Sharma securing Bronze. In the Junior Girls category, Shreemai Bhat won Gold, followed by Akashi Sharma with Silver and Abhihasna Khajuria with Bronze. The Sub-Junior Girls category saw Sanvi Parihar clinch Gold, with Svadhi Sharma taking Silver and Advaita Kotwal claiming Bronze.

The Jammu District Championship produced similarly emphatic results for the centre’s players. In Senior Boys, Soham Bhat took Gold, with Madhvendra Singh claiming Silver and Rahul Sharma securing Bronze. The Senior Girls category once again saw Sidhani Singh triumph with Gold, this time followed by Sneha Sharma with Silver and Simran Sharma with Bronze. In Junior Girls, Shreemai Bhat repeated her Asmita League success with another Gold, with Abhiyasna Khajuria taking Silver and Akashi Sharma claiming Bronze.

The Junior Boys category saw Harikesh Dutt Sharma secure Gold, with Aditya Dutt Sharma claiming Silver, while Vihan Manhas and Ayansh Khajuria shared the Bronze medal. In Sub-Junior Boys, Vihan Singh Bhau won Gold, Yajat Sharma took Silver, and Vihan Parihar and Daiwak Kotwal shared Bronze. The Sub-Junior Girls category concluded with Svadhi Sharma winning Gold, Adveta Kotwal claiming Silver, and Lavanya Thakur and Manvi Gupta sharing Bronze.

The clean sweep across both tournaments, spanning senior, junior and sub-junior categories in both boys’ and girls’ divisions, reflects the structured coaching and consistent talent pipeline the Khelo India Soft Tennis Centre has developed at MA Stadium Jammu in recent years. The centre’s ability to produce medal-winning performers across multiple age groups simultaneously points to a well-established training system capable of nurturing athletes from grassroots levels through to competitive national and international standards.

Arshi Nath, Judo Head Coach and Incharge Manager of the Old Indoor Complex at MA Stadium under the J&K Sports Council, attended the event as Chief Guest. Also present were Shakir, UT General Secretary, and Bilal, Member of the J&K Soft Tennis Association, both of whom were instrumental in organising the tournament.

With the Khelo India Soft Tennis Centre continuing to produce standout performances at the district and city level, expectations will likely grow around several of these young athletes progressing further to state, national and eventually international competitions, following in the footsteps of the centre’s earlier alumni who have already gone on to represent Jammu and Kashmir and India on bigger stages.
