Pulwama, August 14,2026- In a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of India’s Independence, an art exhibition titled “The Canvas of Freedom” was held today at Government Higher Secondary School (HSS) Chersoo, Awantipora, Pulwama.

Students Bring History to Life on Canvas

The exhibition showcased the artistic talent of students of HSS Chersoo, who sketched portraits of India’s freedom fighters and depicted their struggles, sacrifices, and contributions to the nation’s independence. Through their artwork, the young artists paid a meaningful tribute to the heroes who shaped the country’s history, blending creativity with historical reflection.

Each canvas told a story — of courage, resistance, and sacrifice — offering viewers a visual journey through some of the defining moments of India’s freedom struggle.

Inaugurated Amid Dignitaries and Community Members

The exhibition was formally inaugurated by the Chief Educational Officer, Pulwama, in the presence of members of the local community and other dignitaries. The event provided students with a valuable platform to express their understanding of India’s freedom struggle through art and creativity, rather than textbooks alone.

Visitors moved through the display, pausing at portraits and scenes that captured moments of struggle and triumph from the independence movement, many commending the students for their effort and imagination.

A Vision Realised Under Principal’s Guidance

The programme was organised under the supervision and guidance of the school’s Principal, Mr. Ehsan ul Haq, whose efforts were instrumental in making the event meaningful and inspiring for both students and visitors alike.

Keeping the Spirit of Freedom Alive

The exhibition served as a poignant reminder of the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters, while encouraging the younger generation to remember and uphold the values associated with the nation’s freedom.

As India approaches another Independence Day, initiatives like The Canvas of Freedom reflect how schools across Pulwama are finding creative ways to instil patriotic values and historical awareness among students.
