Jammu, July 27,2026- The 20th batch of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu on Sunday under multi-layered security arrangements for the sacred pilgrimage to the Holy Cave Shrine nestled in the Himalayas of south Kashmir.
The convoy, comprising hundreds of devotees travelling in escorted vehicles, left the base camp in the early hours of the morning amid elaborate security measures put in place by the Jammu and Kashmir administration. Pilgrims were escorted by security personnel as they proceeded towards the twin routes of Baltal in Ganderbal district and the traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district.
Authorities have deployed extensive security personnel along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and the pilgrimage routes to ensure the safe movement of devotees. Convoys are being monitored through CCTV surveillance, RFID tracking systems, checkpoints and real-time coordination between security agencies and civil administration.
The annual pilgrimage has witnessed an overwhelming response this year, with the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 recently crossing the landmark of 4 lakh pilgrims visiting the revered cave shrine. Despite intermittent spells of rain and weather-related challenges during the Yatra, authorities have ensured uninterrupted arrangements through coordinated efforts and continuous monitoring.
Comprehensive facilities have been established for pilgrims, including accommodation centres, medical camps, emergency healthcare services, sanitation facilities, food distribution points and disaster response teams. Medical personnel, volunteers and Shrine Board officials remain stationed along both routes to provide assistance whenever required.
Officials said all necessary precautions have been taken to facilitate a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage. Weather conditions, road connectivity and traffic movement are being closely monitored to ensure the smooth passage of Yatra convoys. Emergency response teams and rescue personnel have also been positioned at strategic locations to deal with any unforeseen situation.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces, Army and other security agencies continue to maintain a robust security grid around the pilgrimage, while the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board has been coordinating with various departments to ensure efficient management of the annual Yatra.
Pilgrims expressed gratitude for the well-organised arrangements, praising the administration for providing secure transportation, improved infrastructure and essential facilities along the challenging mountain routes. Many devotees described the pilgrimage as a deeply spiritual experience and appreciated the hospitality extended by local residents and volunteers.
