Kishtwar, July 25,2026- The annual Shri Machail Mata Yatra 2026 is set to begin on July 28 after being postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions in the mountainous region of Kishtwar district. The district administration has decided to resume the pilgrimage with enhanced safety protocols to ensure a secure and well-managed journey for devotees.
To maintain smooth movement along the pilgrimage route and prevent overcrowding, authorities have capped the daily number of pilgrims at 8,000. The restriction is aimed at ensuring better crowd management, particularly on the narrow trekking route leading to the revered shrine.
The Machail Mata Temple, located in the scenic Paddar Valley of Kishtwar, is one of Jammu & Kashmir’s most significant Hindu pilgrimage destinations. Every year, thousands of devotees from across India undertake the spiritual journey to seek the blessings of Goddess Chandi Mata, the presiding deity of the shrine.
Officials have made online registration and RFID verification mandatory for all pilgrims. These measures are intended to improve pilgrim tracking, streamline movement, and strengthen emergency response capabilities throughout the yatra. Devotees have been advised to complete all required formalities before arriving at the base camp.
The administration has also deployed additional security personnel, medical teams, disaster response units, and essential facilities along the route. Weather conditions will continue to be monitored, and any further movement of pilgrims will depend on safety assessments conducted by the authorities.
Pilgrims have been urged to follow official advisories, travel only through designated routes, and cooperate with security and administrative staff to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
With improved arrangements and strict safety measures in place, the administration hopes to facilitate a safe, organised, and spiritually fulfilling Machail Mata Yatra 2026 for all devotees.
