Bandipora, July 22,2026-Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Wednesday urged residents to stay away from water bodies in view of the prevailing weather conditions and rising water levels across the district, emphasizing that public safety must remain the top priority.
During a field visit to Sonerwani, Bonar Nallah and adjoining areas, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the ground situation and appealed to the public not to venture near rivers, streams, nallahs, or other water bodies. She urged residents to strictly follow all safety advisories issued by the district administration and other concerned agencies.
The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children and ensure they do not go near water bodies, stressing that heightened vigilance is essential during the current weather conditions.
Highlighting the importance of safeguarding lives, Indu Kanwal Chib said no work or activity is worth risking one’s life. “If life is safe, everything else can be achieved,” she said, urging people to prioritise safety above all else.
She further appealed to residents to remain alert and immediately report any emergency to the District Control Room by calling 7006526985 or 7006328689 for prompt assistance.
The Deputy Commissioner also sought public cooperation with the administration, requesting people to avoid unnecessary movement near water bodies and remain vigilant until the weather situation improves. The district administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety and responding swiftly to any weather-related emergencies.
