Kishtwar, July 14,2026- In a significant boost to emergency healthcare services, Kishtwar district has effectively implemented the Prime Minister’s Road Accident Victims’ Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment (PM-RAHAT) Scheme, ensuring timely and cashless medical treatment for eligible road accident victims during the critical golden hour.
The scheme is designed to provide immediate financial support for emergency treatment, enabling accident victims to receive prompt medical care without the burden of upfront expenses. By guaranteeing cashless treatment during the crucial first hour after an accident, the initiative aims to improve survival rates and reduce fatalities caused by delays in accessing healthcare.
According to officials, 36 cases have been processed under the PM-RAHAT Scheme in Kishtwar, of which 23 have been approved following due verification. The successful implementation of the scheme reflects the district administration’s commitment to strengthening emergency response mechanisms and ensuring that accident victims receive timely medical intervention.
Health officials stated that the initiative is playing a vital role in enhancing trauma care by facilitating seamless coordination between hospitals, healthcare providers, and administrative authorities. The scheme also promotes faster access to quality medical treatment, particularly for patients requiring urgent care after road accidents.
The PM-RAHAT Scheme is part of the Government of India’s broader efforts to improve road safety, reduce preventable deaths, and strengthen emergency healthcare infrastructure across the country. By removing financial barriers during the golden hour, the programme ensures that victims can receive life-saving treatment without delay.
District authorities have urged the public to remain aware of the scheme’s benefits and continue supporting road safety measures while emphasizing the importance of immediate medical attention following road accidents.
