Srinagar, July 14,2026- The Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council has commenced selection trials for the Sub-Junior Girls Football Team, marking another significant step towards strengthening grassroots football and promoting women’s participation in sports across the Union Territory.
The trials witnessed enthusiastic participation from young footballers representing various districts of Jammu & Kashmir, all vying for a place in the UT squad. The initiative aims to identify talented players who will represent Jammu & Kashmir in upcoming national-level sub-junior football competitions.
Qualified coaches and technical experts are conducting the trials, evaluating players on the basis of their technical skills, physical fitness, game awareness, ball control, passing accuracy, speed, and overall performance. The selection process has been designed to ensure transparency and provide equal opportunities to deserving athletes.
Officials of the J&K Sports Council said the trials are part of the Council’s sustained efforts to nurture young sporting talent and create a strong pipeline of future footballers. They also encouraged aspiring athletes, especially girls, to actively participate in sports and make full use of the training and development opportunities being provided by the Council.
The initiative aligns with the Sports Council’s vision of expanding grassroots sports, enhancing competitive exposure, and empowering young women through football. Selected players will undergo structured coaching and training camps to prepare for forthcoming national championships.
The Sports Council has reiterated its commitment to building a robust sporting ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir by providing quality infrastructure, professional coaching, and competitive platforms for emerging athletes.
