Rajouri, July 8,2026- In a significant step towards empowering farmers and strengthening the agricultural economy, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Rajouri has established a Farmers’ Sale Point at Tandwal on National Highway-144 (NH-144). The initiative aims to provide local farmers with a dedicated platform to directly sell their agricultural produce to consumers without incurring any charges.
The newly established sale point is designed to eliminate the role of middlemen, who often purchased produce at lower prices, reducing farmers’ profit margins. By enabling direct interaction between farmers and buyers, the facility ensures fair pricing, better market access, and increased earnings for cultivators across the district.
Officials said the Farmers’ Sale Point will serve as a convenient marketplace where farmers can display and market fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, and other farm produce directly to consumers. The initiative is expected to improve transparency in agricultural marketing while encouraging local producers to receive the full value of their hard work.
Located along the busy NH-144 corridor, the sale point is strategically positioned to attract travellers, local residents, and bulk buyers, creating greater market opportunities for farmers and boosting sales of locally grown produce.
The initiative aligns with the broader objective of promoting direct farm-to-consumer marketing, reducing post-harvest losses, and improving the economic well-being of farming communities in Rajouri. It also supports efforts to strengthen sustainable agriculture by connecting producers directly with consumers through an accessible and cost-free platform.
Farmers have welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the dedicated marketplace will help increase their income, reduce dependence on intermediaries, and encourage more people to engage in commercial farming.
The Farmers’ Sale Point is expected to play a vital role in enhancing agricultural marketing in the region while contributing to the overall development of the farming sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
