Udhampur, July 4,2026 – To ensure the safety and swift assistance of pilgrims undertaking the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has established a 24×7 Emergency Response Camp along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur district.
The camp has been strategically set up to provide immediate rescue and emergency services throughout the annual pilgrimage, with trained personnel remaining on round-the-clock standby to respond to any unforeseen situation.
Speaking about the deployment, Sub-Inspector Kartar Singh of the J&K SDRF said the emergency response camp has been established under the directions of the Additional Director General (ADG) to ensure prompt assistance to pilgrims travelling on the national highway.
“Our team consists of at least 20 personnel, including members from both the SDRF and the Home Guard. We have been deployed along the National Highway for the pilgrimage and remain on standby 24 hours a day to respond to any incident,” he said.
He added that the rescue team is equipped with modern emergency response equipment and is fully prepared to handle a wide range of emergencies, including road accidents, medical emergencies, landslides, and flood-related incidents.
“Our personnel are trained and fully equipped with modern rescue gear. We are prepared for any eventuality, including flood situations, to ensure the safety of the pilgrims,” Kartar Singh said.
The deployment of SDRF teams forms part of the comprehensive security and disaster management arrangements put in place by the Jammu and Kashmir administration for the smooth and safe conduct of the annual pilgrimage. Multiple agencies, including the Police, NDRF, SDRF, Health Department, Fire and Emergency Services, and civil administration, are working in coordination to provide uninterrupted assistance to devotees travelling to the holy cave shrine.
The administration has urged pilgrims to follow official advisories, cooperate with security personnel, and immediately report any emergency to the nearest response team to ensure a safe and hassle-free pilgrimage.
