Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra crosses 50 lakh pilgrim mark, reflecting growing faith and improved facilities

Katra,June 22,2026- In a significant milestone, the annual pilgrimage to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine has crossed the 50 lakh pilgrim mark, underscoring the shrine’s enduring spiritual significance and growing popularity among devotees from across India and abroad.

The achievement highlights the increasing number of pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey to the holy cave shrine nestled in the Trikuta Hills of Reasi district. Shrine authorities attribute the surge in pilgrim footfall to improved infrastructure, enhanced facilities, better connectivity, and efficient management systems implemented over the years.

Officials of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) have expressed satisfaction over the milestone, noting that comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure a safe, comfortable, and seamless pilgrimage experience for devotees. Facilities such as upgraded tracks, battery car services, accommodation, healthcare centres, sanitation infrastructure, and digital services have significantly enhanced pilgrim convenience.

The steady increase in pilgrim arrivals has also provided a major boost to the local economy. Thousands of people associated with tourism, hospitality, transport, retail trade, and allied services are benefiting from the growing influx of devotees. Hotels, restaurants, shopkeepers, pony operators, porters, and transport providers in Katra and surrounding areas have witnessed increased business activity.

The Vaishno Devi Yatra remains one of India’s most visited religious pilgrimages, attracting devotees throughout the year. The shrine’s spiritual significance, coupled with improved accessibility and modern amenities, continues to draw pilgrims from every corner of the country.
