Nowshera, June 14,2026 – Marking World Blood Donor Day, the 325 Field Hospital (Fd Hosp), in collaboration with the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Nowshera, organized a blood donation camp at ADS-1 Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 70 volunteers who came forward to donate blood and contribute to saving lives.
Medical teams from the Army and SDH Nowshera ensured the safe collection, screening, and handling of blood units, adhering to all prescribed medical protocols. The camp aimed to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and encourage more people to become regular donors.
Among the participants was a retired Army personnel who highlighted the significance of donating blood as a social responsibility.
“I am retired from the Army. I have served in the Army and I consider it my duty to donate blood whenever needed. My intention behind donating blood is simply to help someone in need; it may save a life,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Nowshera, Dr. Chander Parkash, emphasized the importance of World Blood Donor Day and the life-saving impact of blood donation.
“World Blood Donor Day is observed every year on June 14. Blood donation is a very noble act. This year’s theme, ‘One Drop of Humanity,’ highlights the importance of saving lives and serving humanity. If we donate one unit of blood, it can save at least four lives,” Dr. Parkash said.
He urged people, especially youth, to participate in voluntary blood donation drives and help maintain adequate blood reserves for emergencies, surgeries, and critical healthcare needs.
The event served as a reminder of the vital role blood donors play in healthcare systems and the difference a single donation can make in saving multiple lives. Organizers appreciated the volunteers for their selfless contribution and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting awareness about regular blood donation.
The blood donation camp concluded with a strong message of community service, compassion, and collective responsibility towards helping those in need.
