Srinagar airport welcomes first Hajj pilgrim batch

Srinagar, June 2, 2026- The first batch of Haj pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir returned to Srinagar on Tuesday after completing the annual pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. The returning pilgrims were warmly received at the Srinagar International Airport by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior officials.

According to officials, the first flight carried 144 pilgrims and landed at Srinagar International Airport in the afternoon. The arrival marked the beginning of the phased return of Haj pilgrims from the Union Territory.

CM Omar Abdullah interacted with the pilgrims at the airport and extended his greetings, acknowledging their successful completion of the sacred journey. Officials said arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth reception and facilitation of all returning Hajis in the coming days.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has coordinated with aviation and transport authorities to streamline the arrival process and provide necessary assistance to pilgrims upon their return.

The return of Haj pilgrims is being seen as a moment of relief and spiritual fulfillment for families across the region, with more batches expected to arrive in the coming days.
