Kashmir, May 26,2026- A technical fault in Gulmarg could have turned into a nightmare, but the courage, discipline, and swift response of the Indian Army transformed the situation into a powerful story of hope and survival.
Soldiers of the 9 Rajputana Rifles, battling freezing winds and challenging terrain, carried out a massive rescue operation to save nearly 310 tourists stranded inside Gondola cabins suspended high above the ground. Working tirelessly for hours under difficult weather conditions, the Army personnel ensured that every single tourist was brought down safely.
The successful operation prevented a major tragedy and once again showcased the Indian Army’s unmatched commitment to public safety and humanitarian service. Rescued tourists and their families expressed deep gratitude towards the soldiers for risking their own lives to protect others.
One rescued family emotionally summed up the sentiment shared by many, saying, “You saved our lives.”
The rescue mission in Gulmarg stands as another reminder that the Indian Army remains ever ready to serve, protect, and sacrifice—whether during war, natural disasters, or civilian emergencies.
