Udhampur, May 24,2026- The District Level Inter-Zonal Tournament Championship commenced at Subash Stadium in Udhampur with enthusiastic participation from students representing 11 zones of the district.
Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa inaugurated the championship and encouraged youth to actively participate in sports while spreading the message of a drug-free society. He emphasized that sports play a vital role in channelising the energy of young people in a positive direction and help build discipline, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles.
The tournament features Under-14 and Under-17 competitions across multiple sporting disciplines including Kabaddi, Handball, Badminton, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Martial Arts, Yoga, Chess, Table Tennis, and several other events.
Officials said the championship aims to promote sports culture among students while strengthening awareness against drug abuse under the broader mission of building a healthy and empowered youth population.
Participants from different educational zones showcased great enthusiasm during the opening ceremony, reflecting the growing interest of youth in sports and fitness activities across the district.
The event is expected to continue over the coming days with competitions in various categories and disciplines.
