BSF organises Volleyball Tournament in Rajouri to promote sports and drug-free youth culture

Rajouri, May 22,2026- The Border Security Force (BSF), in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), is organising a district-level volleyball tournament in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir under the Spandan – Sport for Peace and Development across the Nation initiative.

The three-day tournament has brought together young athletes from across the district, with eight boys’ teams and six girls’ teams participating in the competition. The initiative aims to promote sportsmanship, youth engagement, and a drug-free society through sports activities in border areas.

Participants praised the BSF for creating a platform for local talent, especially for girls, to showcase their sporting abilities.

One of the participants, Sobia Kousar, expressed gratitude to the BSF for encouraging women’s participation in sports. “BSF has organised the match, and I would like to thank them for giving an opportunity to the girls to showcase their talent. I want to convey a message to the youth that they should leave drugs and move towards sports. We should have more such opportunities in the future,” she said.

Another participant, Tani Sharma, said the tournament was a major opportunity for girls in the region. “This is the first time that we have been given such an opportunity by the BSF. This tournament is a good platform, especially for girls. We even received quality tracksuits here. I hope BSF organises many more such tournaments and continues to encourage girls,” she added.

Participant Bilal Khan highlighted the importance of sports infrastructure and youth engagement. “BSF has organised a district-level volleyball tournament, and I would like to thank them. There are eight boys’ teams and six girls’ teams participating. The tournament will continue for three days, and we are very excited. Such events should continue in the future because there is a lot of talent here, but infrastructure is limited. My message to the youth is that they should stay connected with sports and education and stay away from drugs,” he said.

The tournament is being seen as an important step towards promoting peace, fitness, and social awareness among the youth of the region. Officials said initiatives like Spandan help channel the energy of young people towards positive activities and strengthen community participation through sports.
