Jammu , May 22,2026-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that the newly inaugurated development project will provide a significant boost to religious tourism in the region and further strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism sector.
Addressing a gathering during the inauguration ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the government’s commitment towards improving tourism infrastructure, connectivity, and public facilities at major religious destinations across the Union Territory.
He said the project would enhance the overall experience of pilgrims and tourists visiting the region while also generating employment opportunities for local youth and businesses associated with tourism and hospitality sectors.
The LG observed that religious tourism has emerged as one of the strongest pillars of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy and added that several initiatives are being undertaken to upgrade infrastructure around important pilgrimage centres.
“Improved facilities, better connectivity, and modern infrastructure will attract more pilgrims and tourists to the region. This project will provide a significant boost to religious tourism and contribute to the local economy,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also appreciated the efforts of the concerned departments and agencies involved in completing the project and reiterated the administration’s focus on inclusive development and sustainable tourism growth.
Officials said the initiative is expected to increase tourist footfall, improve local business activity, and create livelihood opportunities for people living in nearby areas.
The event witnessed the presence of senior government officials, local representatives, members of civil society, and residents who welcomed the initiative and expressed hope for further tourism-related development in the region.
