Kashmir, May 21,2026-A major boost to winter tourism has arrived in Doodhpathri with the installation of its first-ever drag lift, developed at a cost of Rs 3.75 crore. The new infrastructure is expected to transform the scenic meadow into an emerging winter sports destination in Jammu and Kashmir.
The drag lift project aims to promote skiing and adventure tourism while attracting more tourists during the winter season. Officials believe the facility will not only enhance tourist experience but also create new livelihood opportunities for local residents linked to tourism, hospitality and transport sectors.
Known for its lush green landscapes in summer, Doodhpathri is now being developed as an all-season tourist destination. The drag lift is expected to encourage winter sports enthusiasts and adventure seekers to explore the area, further strengthening Jammu and Kashmir’s growing tourism sector.
Authorities said the project reflects the government’s continued focus on improving tourism infrastructure and expanding winter tourism destinations beyond traditional hotspots like Gulmarg.
