LG Manoj Sinha calls for united fight against Drug Abuse in Jammu and Kashmir

Kashmir, May 19,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha urged people across Jammu and Kashmir to unite in the fight against drug abuse and work collectively towards building a healthier and stronger society free from the menace of narcotics.

Addressing participants during an anti-drug awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, Manoj Sinha said every citizen has a responsibility to protect the younger generation from falling into addiction and to strengthen the social fabric of the Union Territory.

He stressed that the administration is committed to eliminating drug trafficking networks and creating widespread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. He called upon families, teachers, religious leaders, social organisations and youth to actively participate in the campaign against drugs.

“Together, we must build a Jammu and Kashmir where no child falls victim to drugs, no family is destroyed by addiction, no community suffers because of traffickers, and every resident lives with strength, dignity and good health,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

Sinha highlighted that awareness campaigns, counselling programmes, rehabilitation initiatives and community participation are essential to making Jammu and Kashmir drug-free. He also appreciated the role of educational institutions, police, health departments and volunteers working under the anti-drug movement.

The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that the government will continue to take strict action against drug peddlers while simultaneously focusing on rehabilitation and support for affected youth.
