Kashmir, May 13,2026- Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a major achievement in expanding cashless healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana SEHAT scheme, significantly improving access to affordable and quality medical treatment for people across the Union Territory.
Officials stated that the PM-JAY SEHAT initiative has emerged as a transformative healthcare programme, enabling lakhs of beneficiaries to avail free and cashless treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals. The scheme has reduced the financial burden on families by covering major medical procedures, surgeries and hospitalisation expenses.
According to the administration, the healthcare initiative has particularly benefited people from economically weaker sections, residents of remote areas and senior citizens who earlier faced difficulties in accessing specialised medical services. Increased awareness among the public and expansion of healthcare facilities have contributed to the growing success of the scheme in Jammu and Kashmir.
Authorities said that digitisation, efficient implementation and strengthened hospital infrastructure have helped improve healthcare delivery under PM-JAY SEHAT. The government is also continuously working to increase the number of empanelled hospitals and ensure seamless treatment facilities for beneficiaries.
Officials reiterated that the administration remains committed to strengthening the healthcare sector and ensuring universal access to quality and affordable healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir.
