Udhampur, May 11,2026-The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme is bringing financial relief to farmers living in the hilly areas of Patnitop in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district through direct benefit transfers of ₹6,000 annually.
Beneficiaries associated with the scheme said the financial assistance has helped them manage farming-related expenses and support their livelihoods in remote and mountainous regions where agricultural activities often face multiple challenges.
Farmers in Patnitop said the direct transfer of funds into their bank accounts has made the process transparent and convenient while providing timely support for seeds, fertilizers and other farming requirements.
Residents noted that agriculture remains a major source of livelihood for many families in the region, and schemes like PM-KISAN are proving beneficial for small and marginal farmers struggling with rising cultivation costs.
Locals also appreciated the government’s efforts to extend welfare initiatives to remote rural areas, saying the scheme has improved financial stability for farming households.
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 annually in three equal instalments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly into their bank accounts.
Officials said the initiative continues to benefit thousands of farmers across Jammu and Kashmir by strengthening rural livelihoods and supporting agricultural development.
