Samba, May 6,2026- In a significant push towards border area development, the zero line village of Regal along the International Border in Samba is set to be developed as a Vibrant Village under the Government of India’s flagship Vibrant Villages Programme.
The initiative aims to transform remote and strategically important border villages into self-reliant, well-connected, and economically active hubs. As part of the programme, Regal village will witness a comprehensive upgrade in essential infrastructure, including roads, electricity, potable water supply, healthcare, and educational facilities.
Officials said the development plan also includes strengthening digital connectivity, promoting tourism potential, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local residents. The focus remains on improving quality of life while discouraging migration from border areas.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is expected to announce a major package for the village, further accelerating development in the region. The move is being seen as a major step towards empowering border communities and ensuring inclusive growth.
Residents have welcomed the decision, expressing optimism that the long-overlooked village will now witness better infrastructure and employment opportunities. They believe the Vibrant Village tag will bring new economic avenues and improve overall living standards.
The development of Regal village highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening border infrastructure and enhancing resilience in frontier regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
