Budgam,May 5,2026- Manoj Sinha on Tuesday led a massive anti-drug padyatra in Budgam under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to eradicate substance abuse from the Union Territory.
The padyatra witnessed participation from thousands of people, including students, youth groups, civil society members, and government officials, all united in their resolve to fight the growing drug menace. Participants marched through key areas carrying placards and raising slogans to spread awareness about the harmful effects of narcotics.
Addressing the gathering, LG Manoj Sinha emphasised that the fight against drugs requires a collective effort from society, including families, educational institutions, and community leaders. He reiterated the government’s multi-pronged strategy focused on breaking drug supply chains, strengthening law enforcement, and expanding treatment and rehabilitation facilities.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that the ongoing campaign is not just an enforcement drive but a people’s movement aimed at awareness, prevention, and recovery. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and actively contribute to building a healthier and safer society.
Officials said the padyatra is part of a broader initiative being carried out across Jammu and Kashmir, with awareness programmes, enforcement actions, and community outreach activities being intensified in all districts.
Elaborate arrangements, including security and traffic management, were put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the event, which saw an overwhelming public response.
The Budgam padyatra marks a significant step in strengthening the anti-drug movement in the region, sending a strong message of unity and determination to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.
