Jammu, April 29,2026- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday chaired a high-level security review meeting in Jammu to assess preparedness for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. The meeting brought together senior officials from the police, civil administration, intelligence agencies, and security forces to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.
During the review, LG Sinha emphasized the need for a robust and multi-layered security framework along the yatra routes, including the traditional Pahalgam axis and the Baltal route. He directed officials to strengthen surveillance systems, deploy adequate security personnel, and ensure real-time coordination among all agencies involved.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of advanced technology, including CCTV monitoring, drone surveillance, and quick response teams, to mitigate any potential threats. He also instructed authorities to maintain strict vigilance at key transit points, base camps, and along highways leading to the shrine.
Special focus was laid on disaster management preparedness, medical facilities, and emergency response mechanisms. LG Sinha directed health departments to ensure availability of doctors, paramedics, and essential medicines at all camps, considering the high-altitude challenges faced by pilgrims.
The administration also reviewed arrangements related to traffic management, sanitation, accommodation, and uninterrupted supply of essential services such as water and electricity. Officials were asked to ensure seamless coordination between departments to provide a hassle-free experience for devotees.
Highlighting the significance of the yatra, LG Sinha reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of pilgrims while upholding the spiritual and cultural essence of the pilgrimage.
The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and other stakeholders have been directed to work in close coordination to ensure all arrangements are in place well before the commencement of the yatra.
