Reva Rani of Kathua emerges as beekeeping success story under HADP in Jammu & Kashmir

Kathua, April 28, 2026- In the rural heartland of Jammu & Kashmir, Reva Rani of Lakhri village in Kathua is emerging as a symbol of empowerment and self-reliance, inspiring women farmers through her remarkable journey in beekeeping.

Starting modestly with just 35 bee boxes under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Reva Rani has expanded her venture to over 200 bee colonies. Her steady growth reflects dedication, skill, and the effective use of government-backed agricultural initiatives aimed at boosting rural livelihoods.

Today, her beekeeping enterprise generates an annual income exceeding ₹4 lakh, transforming her into a successful rural entrepreneur. Beyond financial independence, her journey is motivating other women in the region to explore sustainable and profitable farming practices.

Reva Rani credits training, technical support, and financial assistance under HADP for helping her scale up operations. Her success also highlights the potential of apiculture as a viable income source in Jammu & Kashmir, particularly in districts like Kathua where natural flora supports honey production.

Local agricultural officials have lauded her efforts, stating that such success stories are crucial in encouraging youth and women to take up innovative farming practices. Reva Rani is now not only contributing to her family’s income but also playing a key role in strengthening the rural economy.

Her journey stands as a testament to how determination, combined with the right support, can transform lives and create new opportunities in the agricultural sector.
