Hi-Tech polyhouse boost to drive ₹30 crore vegetable economy in Doda

Doda, April 23,2026- In a major push towards agricultural transformation, the Assar–Bagger belt of Doda is rapidly emerging as a key vegetable-producing hub with the inauguration of a hi-tech polyhouse aimed at modernizing farming practices.

The initiative is expected to help build a robust ₹30 crore vegetable economy, enabling farmers to shift towards protected cultivation for higher yield and improved crop quality. The polyhouse technology allows farmers to regulate temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors, ensuring consistent production throughout the year.

Officials noted that the move will significantly enhance productivity while addressing climate-related challenges such as erratic weather patterns and seasonal uncertainties. By minimizing crop losses and extending growing cycles, the initiative is set to improve farm profitability across the region.

Local farmers have welcomed the development, expressing optimism about increased income and better market opportunities. The adoption of modern techniques is also likely to attract youth towards agriculture, creating employment and fostering innovation in the sector.

The polyhouse initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and rural economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir, positioning the region as a promising center for high-value vegetable production.
