Kashmir Ahead

Direct Vande Bharat train to run between Jammu and Srinagar from April 30

Srinagar, April 22,2026- In a major boost to connectivity and tourism, the government is set to launch a direct service of the Vande Bharat Express between Jammu and Srinagar from April 30.

The much-anticipated rail link will significantly reduce travel time between the two key cities of Jammu and Srinagar, offering passengers a faster, more comfortable, and reliable mode of transportation. The introduction of the semi-high-speed train is expected to enhance regional connectivity and provide a seamless travel experience through the scenic Kashmir Valley.

Officials stated that the launch of the direct Vande Bharat service marks a milestone in the development of railway infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. The train is equipped with modern amenities, improved safety features, and enhanced passenger comfort, making it an attractive option for both residents and tourists.

The service is also expected to give a strong push to tourism in the Valley, making destinations like Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and Sonamarg more accessible to visitors. Local businesses, particularly in the hospitality and transport sectors, are likely to benefit from increased tourist inflow.

Railway authorities have completed necessary safety checks and infrastructure upgrades along the route to ensure smooth operations. The launch aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen connectivity, promote economic growth, and integrate the region more closely with the rest of the country.

With the start of the Vande Bharat train service, Jammu and Kashmir is poised to witness improved mobility, increased tourism, and enhanced economic opportunities.
