Budgam, April 21,2026- In a bid to promote youth engagement and steer young minds away from substance abuse, Deputy Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan on Tuesday inaugurated a district-level cricket tournament at the Sports Stadium in Budgam.

He emphasised that constructive activities like sports can play a crucial role in preventing drug abuse by keeping young individuals engaged and focused. “Through sports, we build character and create a sense of responsibility among youth,” he noted.
The tournament has witnessed enthusiastic participation from multiple local teams, reflecting a growing interest in sports across the district. Officials said such initiatives not only encourage physical fitness but also promote teamwork, unity, and community bonding.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to organising more sporting events and awareness programmes as part of a broader strategy to build a drug-free and empowered society in Jammu & Kashmir.
