Rajouri,April 12,2026- In a historic breakthrough for the Union Territory’s sporting landscape, young pugilist Mohd Yasser has etched his name in the record books by becoming the first international boxer from Jammu and Kashmir. The talented athlete has been selected to represent India at the prestigious Under-15 Asian Boxing Championship, scheduled to begin on May 1 in Uzbekistan.
Yasser’s selection marks a significant milestone not only for his home district Rajouri but also for the entire region, which has been steadily emerging as a hub of sporting talent. Backed by the government’s flagship Khelo India initiative, the young boxer has honed his skills at the Khelo India Boxing Centre in Rajouri, where he received structured training and professional guidance.
