PM Narendra Modi reviews Mudra Yojana progress at 11-year milestone

Kashmir, April 9, 2026- Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana as the flagship scheme completed 11 years of implementation, marking a significant milestone in promoting financial inclusion and entrepreneurship across the country.

Launched in 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana was aimed at providing collateral-free loans to micro and small enterprises, enabling aspiring entrepreneurs to start and expand their businesses. Over the years, the scheme has played a crucial role in empowering youth, women, and small business owners, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.

During the review, the Prime Minister highlighted the impact of the scheme in boosting self-employment and generating livelihood opportunities. He noted that easy access to institutional credit has helped millions transition from informal to formal economic activities, strengthening the grassroots economy.

Officials said the scheme has witnessed extensive outreach, with beneficiaries spanning sectors such as small manufacturing, trading, services, and agriculture-related activities. Special emphasis has also been laid on supporting women entrepreneurs, contributing to greater financial independence and inclusion.

The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the MSME sector and ensuring that credit facilities reach the last mile. He also called for continued efforts to enhance awareness about the scheme and simplify access for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The review comes as the government focuses on accelerating economic growth through inclusive development and entrepreneurship-led initiatives, with PMMY remaining a key pillar in this strategy.
