Udhampur, March 7,2026- Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa on Friday reviewed the implementation and progress of the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana in the district, emphasizing the need to expand its coverage among workers in the unorganised sector to strengthen social security support.
During the review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the status of registrations, outreach initiatives and awareness campaigns being conducted to enroll eligible beneficiaries under the pension scheme. He directed the concerned departments and field officials to intensify efforts to ensure that maximum eligible workers benefit from the scheme.
Minga Sherpa highlighted that the scheme is a significant initiative of the Government of India aimed at providing financial security to unorganised sector workers after retirement. He urged officials to reach out to labourers, street vendors, domestic workers, small traders and other informal sector employees to ensure they are informed about the benefits and enrollment process.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among departments, including the Labour Department and local administrative units, to identify eligible beneficiaries and facilitate their registration under the scheme. He also called for organising awareness drives and camps across rural and urban areas of the district.
Officials informed the meeting that several registration camps and awareness programmes have been conducted to promote the scheme among workers. They assured the Deputy Commissioner that efforts would be intensified to ensure wider participation and improved coverage in the coming months.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment to social welfare, Minga Sherpa said that expanding the reach of the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana will help provide long-term financial security to thousands of unorganised sector workers and ensure a more secure future for them and their families.
