Srinagar, March 1,2026- Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on Saturday conducted an extensive city tour in Srinagar to review civic amenities and inspect the functioning of newly installed e-bus charging stations aimed at strengthening eco-friendly public transport in the region.
During the inspection, the Divisional Commissioner assessed the operational status, safety protocols, and maintenance standards of the electric bus charging infrastructure established under the Smart City initiative. Officials from the transport and power departments briefed him on the capacity, charging time, and fleet management system of the e-buses currently operating in the city.
He emphasized the importance of promoting sustainable urban mobility and directed concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted power supply and proper upkeep of the charging stations to avoid disruption in services. The Commissioner also interacted with field staff and sought feedback regarding operational challenges.
The visit included a review of traffic regulation measures, road conditions, sanitation facilities, and overall public service delivery across key city areas. Stressing timely execution of ongoing developmental works, he instructed officers to maintain close coordination for smooth implementation of urban infrastructure projects.
Officials informed that the introduction of electric buses has significantly reduced carbon emissions and improved commuter convenience, marking a major step toward green transport in Srinagar.
