Baramulla, February 21,2026- The Chinar Open Winter Games 2026, an initiative of the Indian Army, concluded successfully in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
The latest edition of the annual winter sporting event witnessed record-breaking participation, with a total of 660 participants competing across eight different events. The games brought together youth from various parts of the region, showcasing talent, sportsmanship, and community spirit amid the snow-covered landscape of north Kashmir.
Organized to promote winter sports and provide a constructive platform for local youth, the Chinar Open Winter Games have steadily grown in popularity over the past five years. The initiative aims to encourage healthy competition, nurture sporting excellence, and strengthen the bond between the Indian Army and local communities.
Speaking on the occasion, one of the participants expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for consistently organizing the event.
“I want to thank the Indian Army for providing us a good platform for the last five years. I participate each year and it gives us motivation and exposure,” the participant said.
The successful conclusion of the Chinar Open Winter Games 2026 reflects the growing enthusiasm for winter sports in Baramulla and highlights continued efforts to engage youth through positive and development-oriented initiatives.
