Srinagar, February 17,2026- The iconic Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is likely to open for visitors by March 15, marking the beginning of the much-awaited spring tourism season in Kashmir.
Located at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range overlooking Dal Lake, the Tulip Garden is Asia’s largest tulip garden and a major attraction during the annual Tulip Festival. Officials said preparations are in full swing, with horticulture teams working to ensure the flowers bloom in full vibrancy ahead of the scheduled opening.
Preparations in Full Swing
The Department of Floriculture has intensified plantation and maintenance work, including landscaping, irrigation checks, and visitor facility upgrades. Thousands of tulip bulbs of various imported and indigenous varieties have been planted, promising a spectacular display of colors for tourists and locals alike.
Authorities are closely monitoring weather conditions to ensure optimal blooming. If weather remains favourable, the garden is expected to witness peak bloom by late March or early April.
Boost to Kashmir Tourism
The opening of the Tulip Garden traditionally signals the start of the tourist season in the Valley. With improved infrastructure and promotional efforts, officials anticipate a significant surge in tourist footfall this year.
The Tulip Festival, organised annually, showcases not only tulips but also other spring flowers such as hyacinths, daffodils, and ranunculus. Cultural programmes, local handicrafts, and Kashmiri cuisine stalls are also expected to be part of the festivities.
Tourism stakeholders believe the early opening will provide a major boost to hotels, houseboats, transport operators, and local businesses across Srinagar and nearby areas.
Visitor Information
Authorities are expected to announce ticketing details and visiting hours soon. Tourists are advised to check official updates before planning their visit.
With vibrant floral displays set against the picturesque backdrop of Dal Lake, the Tulip Garden remains one of Kashmir’s most photographed destinations every spring.
